The five-year project brings even more state-of-the-art medical care to one of Westchester County’s busiest emergency departments.
Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital recently unveiled expansions and renovations within its emergency and radiology departments, along with a newly constructed Montefiore Medical Group (MMG) Health Center. Providing top-tier care for the surrounding communities, this $44.3 million campus project was entirely funded by the Capital Restructuring Financing Program awarded by New York State.
“What we have unveiled here today was five years in the making and is focused completely on serving the diverse medical needs of New Rochelle residents and those in our surrounding communities,” says Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital Vice President and Executive Director Tony Alfano.
Completed in two phases to avoid care disruptions, the Montefiore emergency department now includes a new lobby, registration, and waiting area. There are also eight private observation rooms, four private patient rooms with dedicated OB/GYN rooms, and 21 private patient bays for pediatric and adult patients. Specific areas were also dedicated to trauma treatment, private behavioral health treatment, and a separate results waiting area.
The renovated radiology suite now features a 1.5 short bore MRI machine, as well as a 64 and 16 slice CT scanner. These will help shorten turnaround time for patients’ imaging results, allowing clinical treatment protocols to be determined quicker than ever. Conveniently, as the suite can now be accessed from the emergency department lobby, the amount of people in the waiting area can easily be reduced.
Resulting from a complete renovation of the former Montefiore New Rochelle Clinic, the new 25,000-square-foot MMG Health Center focuses on providing healthcare for all generations by meeting the individual patient’s specific needs and providing easy access to all the healthcare services available from Montefiore Health System. The modern facility provides primary pediatric and adult care, as well as women’s health and cardiology, among other specialties.
“These state-of-the-art facilities at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital will help us deliver on our mission of providing innovative healthcare from world class leaders, while advancing health equity and access in this community,” says Montefiore Medicine President and CEO Philip O. Ozuah.
