Designed to enhance care for expectant moms and newborns, the Cortlandt Manor center provides an improved experience before, during, and after birth.

NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital this month announced the opening of its Maternal & Newborn Care Unit, which provides mothers and their newborns with an advanced pregnancy journey from prenatal care to childbirth, newborn care, and postpartum follow-up.

The center features bright, private postpartum rooms, each with a bathroom, shower, and a comfortable bed for a partner to sleep in, which allows for family-focused support and bonding. It is also equipped with spacious labor and delivery rooms with soaking tubs for use during labor, state-of-the-art surgical suites, a dedicated triage suite, and a Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for newborns who need additional medical support.

The hospital also provides a full range of services patients may need before, during, and after childbirth, including birthing classes and breastfeeding support groups. NYP Hudson Valley is certified by Baby-Friendly USA, a joint initiative of the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund that supports mothers who choose to breastfeed their babies. In addition, its nursing team has received national recognition for excellence in nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program.

“The new Maternal & Newborn Care Unit reflects NewYork-Presbyterian’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional care to expectant mothers, their newborns, and the entire family,” says Stacey Petrower, President of NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital.

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital currently ranks as the fourth best hospital in the nation and first in New York by U.S. News and World Report due to its continued efforts to ensure patients are provided with the highest quality of care. Its continued push to revamp the facility allows mothers and their newborns a more comfortable journey throughout the childbirth process in Westchester County.
