The 2021 Emerson Resort & Spa Woodstock Open is a chance for Westchester pro Greg Bisconti to defend his title.
Whether you’ve got your club championship on your radar or plan to compete in a premier event like the Emerson Resort & Spa Woodstock Open, getting ready for a tournament means tuning up all aspects of your game.
Brad Worthington, Director of Golf at Pound Ridge GC, says playing well on a tight course like Woodstock GC calls for smart club selection, especially off the tee. The driver isn’t necessarily the best choice every time!
The 86th Annual Emerson Resort & Spa Woodstock Open, scheduled for Monday, July 26, has one of the most decorated fields in its celebrated history. The event is believed to be the longest running tourney in the country at one site for both professionals and amateurs. Past Woodstock Open fields have included Masters champions Gene Sarazen and Doug Ford.
This year, Greg Bisconti, head professional at The St. Andrews Golf Club in Hastings, will return to defend his Emerson Resort & Spa Woodstock Open title. Bisconti is one of 11 2021 New York State Open Championship golfers participating in this year’s Woodstock Open. Joining Bisconti will be State Open qualifiers Justin Lane (2019 Woodstock Open champion and Binghamton University graduate student with a year of eligibility remaining), Chris Sanger (2014 Woodstock winner and host professional), Michael Shine (last year’s Woodstock Open runner-up), Scott Battiste, Matthew Belizze, Mark Brown, Andrew DeForest, Ryan Rodriguez, Jesse Steel, and Michael Sweeney.
