On Thursday, October 6 at Whitby Castle in Rye, 125 whisky aficionados learned the history and the process of making world-renowned The Macallan from its brand ambassador, Jeremy Fonicello. Most importantly, they got tips on how to appreciate a good Scotch’s oaky scent, and how to drink it. It may sounds counterintuitive, but Fonicello recommends cutting a straight-up pour with a few drops of water to release flavor. The Macallans up for sampling last night included the new Sherry Oak 12 Year, Double Cask 12 Year, Fine Oak 15 Year, and finally the prestigious Rare Cask.
The event not only featured high-end whisky, but also Taittinger Champagne from Zachys Wines & Liquor, fine cigars courtesy of Half Time Beverage, gorgeous cars from Miller Motorcars, and beautiful pearls from Woodrow Jewelers & Mikimoto.
