What began as a day at the beach with their kids has turned into a successful jewelry business for three local stay-at-home moms. “We started our company, ROXoxox [pronounced ROX hugs and kisses] on Fire Island,” says co-owner and Bedford resident Lisa Silverman. “We brought out crafts for the kids and ended up making great pieces for ourselves. When we got back home, women stopped us on the street asking where we purchased our jewelry, and wanted to buy the pieces right then and there.”
Two years later, Silverman, a former CPA, along with partners Lise Aug and Kay Kuzbari, both from Manhattan with backgrounds in fashion and business, are designing pieces for all seasons. Using precious and semi-precious stones and sterling silver, 14kt gold, leather, suede, and even velvet, they’ve created a varied and unique collection. For fall, the collection consists of 16 handmade pieces—from a ring displaying an amethyst stone wrapped with gold-filled wire to a necklace with a large fire agate oval and carnelian stone on a chocolate leather ribbon. Prices range from $160 to $200. Jewelry can be purchased at TruGrace in Armonk, Richard Scott Salon in Mount Kisco, and Aspire in Scarsdale. Check out the collection on roxoxox.com.
