With Father’s Day just around the corner we wanted to take a moment to recognize some of the design-savvy dads out there that are not only outstanding fathers, but are expressly stylish, too.
Here are a few renowned design dads that we want to give recognition to, some who’s own children have followed in their footsteps as designers themselves.

When you think of the great designers of all time, a few names come to mind: Albert Hadley, Billy Baldwin, and David Hicks. Hicks is known for his bold use of colors and geometric patterns, and his talent for mixing antiques with modern furniture. His legacy lives on through his children; Edwina is a model while Ashley and India are both known for being designers in their own rights. In fact, Ashley even wrote a book about his father, David Hicks, A Life of Design.
Mark Hampton
Another design dad who brought a famous designer into the world is Mark Hampton. Alexa Hampton took over her father’s namesake firm, Mark Hampton LLC, in 1998. Hampton’s style has been described as a “relaxed traditionalism,” embraced by America’s stylish elite including President Bush and his first lady.
Morris Lapidus
Morris Lapidus was a well-known architect mainly focused on Neo-baroque “Miami Modern” hotels built in the ‘50s and ‘60s. His son, Alan, worked with him for 18 years, and is known for having worked as an architect for iconic figures like mayors, real estate legends, and even Donald Trump. One of Lapidus’ most iconic projects was Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, so if you simply imagine Miami Beach, you can get a sense of Lapidus’ work.
And to get in on the mix, Land of Nod has incorporated a handful of designer dads including Mark Daniel, Royce Nelson, Will Bryant and Eric Trine.
