For White Plains resident and Cleveland native Randy Elber, the love of cars started early. At 13, he bought a 1968 Pontiac LeMans and created a GTO clone out of it, doing as much as he could himself. That homebuilt “Goat,” as GTOs are often known, took Elber all the way through high school.
In his senior year, a story in the Cleveland Plain Dealer mentioned that McPherson College in Kansas was offering a degree in automotive restoration, and Elber’s fate was sealed. While at McPherson, Elber interned at one of the top restoration shops in the world, Paul Russell & Company in Massachusetts, where he worked after graduation.
Elber eventually relocated to Westchester and opened R&R Restorations, in Mount Kisco, with business partner Bob Torre Jr. Though the two have their hands full restoring all kinds of exotics during the week, Elber reserves his weekend joyrides for this exquisite 12-cylinder 330 GT 2+2 Ferrari (it even has a backseat for the kids!).
