A New Grilling-and-Outdoor-Kitchen Shop Opens in Yonkers

Ring of Fire comes fitted with expertise and a burst of flames.

Recently opened in the lower level of Curto’s Appliances in Yonkers, Ring of Fire was started because owner Jonathan Giannettino saw a need in the greater-NYC-metro area for a hands-on retail experience solely focused on specialty outdoor cooking and living. Ring of Fire offers outdoor cooking products and outdoor kitchens, carrying marquee lines like Weber but also unique brands, such as Alfresco, Yoder smokers, Alfa pizza ovens, Memphis Grills, and Goldens Cast Iron kamados, among others.

“Typically, if someone is going to buy a grill, they go to a home-improvement chain, a hardware store, or an appliance store,” says Giannettino. “All three of those types of retailers approach outdoor as a seasonal business and fully display products for only two to three months. I felt that we needed an experience that was solely focused, 365 days a year, on grills, smokers, pizza ovens, outdoor kitchens, and all of their ancillary products.”

Another exciting aspect of the new store is that they will be offering site surveys, kitchen renderings, grill-cleaning services, and the store’s Fellowship of Smoke memberships, for customers who are hardcore grill/smoke enthusiasts. Members are connected via email and have access to grilling and smoking classes throughout the year and special deals from Ring of Fire, as well as best practices for grilling and smoking.

Taking a cue from Amazon, Ring of Fire will offer either next-day or same-day delivery options on certain products.

Top Grills and Outdoor Ovens

Owner Jonathan Giannettino offers up his top picks from Ring of Fire.

Gas Grill:

“I’m a fan of Weber for their value; I prefer Alfresco for the high-end gas grills.”

Outdoor Oven:

“I like a company called Alfa, which makes wood-burning and gas pizza ovens. However, calling it a pizza oven is selling it short. I consider them outdoor ovens that are perfectly suited for cast-iron cooking. Picture a thick rib-eye steak sizzling away in a cast-iron skillet while being tickled by wood smoke. Perfection!”

Fire Grill:

“My favorite grill to cook on is a kamado, which is a ceramic vessel. They can do everything: grill, smoke, sear, bake, roast — all over live fire, as kamados are fueled with charcoal or wood.”
