Showcased alongside collections by Roberto Coin, Judith Ripka, and Marco Bicego, the fresh and sophisticated work of emerging talent Lauren Steinberg is in excellent company at R&M Woodrow Jewelers in Rye. And, in addition to finding the Briarcliff native’s designs, you’ll also often find the 25-year-old designer at Woodrow’s—she’s a part-time sales associate.
Steinberg’s collection—known as Lauren Kara, for her first and middle names—features 18-karat gold-filled and vermeil (18-karat gold over sterling silver) necklaces, bracelets, and earrings with coin pearls and such semiprecious stones as garnet, citrine, and peridot. “My work,” she says, “runs the gamut from delicate, antique-y looking pieces to more chunky and trendy styles like jewel-encrusted bib necklaces.” Steinberg also custom-designs pieces featuring Swarovski crystals and pearls for bridal parties, proms, and other special events. Prices for her designs, also available at Elephant’s Trunk in Mount Kisco and Wondrous Things in Briarcliff Manor, range from $50 to $500. Custom orders are welcome.
