Located in Columbia County, Clermont was built in 1740 (and rebuilt in 1782 after being burned by the British in 1777). The Georgian-style Hudson River estate has been welcoming weddings since 1996—but the house itself has been home to seven generations of the Livingston family, many of whom have wed on the 500-acre grounds over the years. With views that stretch across the Hudson River to the Catskill Mountains, it’s easy to see why.
Clermont provides the setting, water, and electricity; everything else must be arranged with third-party vendors. It offers five outdoor locations on the Livingston estate that couples can rent for wedding receptions. The most popular is the North Arryl House lawn, ideal for large receptions of up to 400 people, and the Southwest Mansion Lawn, which boasts both river and mountain views. In addition, 12 locations are available for wedding ceremonies, including the Wilderness Garden and The Sheepfold picnic grounds. As an added bonus, Clermont hosts only one event per weekend, making for ample set-up and tear-down time the weekend of your special event.
The site can accommodate up to 400 people and, after 5 pm, guests are encouraged to stroll through the nearby gardens or enjoy a game of croquet on the East Lawn. Rental fees range from $600 to $2,200 for wedding receptions, depending upon the location and time of day.
