Coco Chanel

A 1½-year-old female chocolate Pomeranian.

Her humans: Andrew Pagnozzi (quoted) and daughter Chloe, age 12, of Pleasantville

Her backstory: Rescued from a puppy mill in North Carolina when she was 3 months old; she was very sick and close to death when a vet nursed her back to health. We adopted her when she was 5 months old, and today she is 100-percent well and full of life!

Significance of her name: ‘Coco’ for her color and ‘Chanel’ because she is a diva.

Best word to describe her personality: Entertaining.

Her favorite toy: Her Whiffle ball—because she loves to chase it and she can hang onto it through the holes in the ball.

Signature accessory: Her gold collar.

Thinks she is: A police dog. She’s always checking on the kids playing here and keeping them in line. She makes sure they are not running in the house and barks at them to stop if they are.

I think she is: A spoiled brat—because I spoil her! She loves to come riding in the car with me and, even if it’s for a few minutes’ ride, I end up taking her.

Favorite activity: She loves to be chased. She’ll dodge me, walk up to me, and then make me chase her again.

Often modeling: Her rain jacket, sweater, or tutu.

Last Halloween dressed up as: A witch, while attending a Girl Scouts party in the Pleasantville dog park.

Weirdest behavior: Loves to sleep in the closet next to all the shoes.

Naughtiest habit: Chewing on shoes.

Special talent: After dinner, all I have to say is, ‘Coco, let’s go for a walk,’ and she immediately starts singing—out of key—and runs to the drawer where we keep her leash.

Favorite game: Sometimes when we are in the backyard, I say, ‘Coco, let’s go in,’ and she runs and hides behind a tree and has me chase her around the tree.

Personality: Coco has a very old soul—I know this because she can look deep into my eyes and I get the feeling that she knows what I’m feeling.

Is so special because: She has such a spunky personality. Although she is only a foot high, she thinks she is the biggest thing in the room.
