Cloneberries

Pinkberry frozen yogurt clones offer Westchester takes on LA cool.

By now, you’ve heard the rumblings about low calories, tart flavors, and cool Philippe Starck furniture: Pinkberry is Hollywood’s hottest export since those boys of Entourage cruised onto HBO. The fro-yo’s rabid fans are called “groupies” (who nickname their addiction “crackberry”), and it’s the buzziest girl-grub since Carrie Bradshaw first nibbled a Magnolia cupcake.

Sadly, LA-based Pinkberry is treating Westchester County as a flyover county, choosing to carpet New York City with 13 franchises while, thus far, only dipping a toe into Fairfield, Connecticut. Slated for a late September debut, the Fairfield Pinkberry, at 1512 Post Road, had not opened as of press time.

So does Pinkberry’s corporate oversight mean that Westchester can’t sample Taylor Swift’s favorite green tea fro-yo—perhaps topped with mochi or Fruity Pebbles? No fear: there are plenty of Cloneberries popping up all around the county.

Yogo Joy
8 Purdy Ave, Rye (914) 967-0049
16 Harwood Ct, Scarsdale (914) 725-8818
This self-serve Pinkberry-alike originated in Rye, but after seeing its success with the taut, Lululemon crowd, it branched out to equally toned Scarsdale. At both, you’ll find the popular Pinkberry flavors (plain, green tea, vanilla, pomegranate), available with de rigueur toppings of fresh fruit, nuts, and cereal.

YogoBerrY
10 S Moger Ave, Mount Kisco (914) 242-0500
2114 Boston Post Rd, Larchmont (914) 630-2955
764 Central Ave, Scarsdale (914) 472-2598
If tangy, multi-media fro-yo (no matter how chic) won’t float your boat, these franchises also sling smoothies and that ’90s fad, bubble tea. That’s a Taiwanese import trend comprising frothy sweet tea studded with chewy, black tapioca pearls. The fun is sucking up the tapioca marbles through outsized, colored straws.

Go Greenberry
58 Garth Rd, Scarsdale (914) 722-2026
1 Cedar St, Dobbs Ferry (914) 231-6161
Scarsdale-based Go Greenberry jumps on two hot trends at once: not only does its rounded, lowercase signage echo Pinkberry’s, but Go Greenberry uses biodegradable cups, cornstarch spoons, and recycled napkins. In a wise move, Go Greenberry’s owner, Greg Sribhud, launched a second outpost in Dobbs Ferry outside of Cloneberry-dense Scarsdale.
