Sip Wine on Tap From the Hudson Valley’s Pint-Sized Prosecco Trailer

Based out of Warwick, Parked Prosecco is a mobile bar that pours Riesling and rosé at parties and weddings along the Hudson River.

Parked Prosecco is like a unicorn.

Wait, hear us out. A traveling vino cart, it’s a figurative diamond in the rough with a magnetic allure wherever it goes. When spotted in the wilds of the Hudson Valley, it entices passersby to stop for a glass of bubbly on tap.

Yes, it’s a wine bar, albeit a slightly more elusive one than the Westchester’s brick-and-mortar spots. Yet with a picture-perfect design and food truck-esque movability, it’s also a dream for local parties, weddings, and festivals. Because who doesn’t want a glass of prosecco from what just may be the most photogenic trailer we’ve ever seen?

The trailer is named Tilly, by the way. Owner Alexa Carrington named her shortly after tracking down the rundown camper on Facebook Marketplace. Along with her fiancé, Rob, she made the four-hour drive to Herkimer to purchase the 1968 Go Tag-A-Long for $400. The listing said it “needed work,” but Carrington had no idea how much effort that would actually entail.

“Where do I even begin?” she jokes about the renovation, which required a complete gut, including a new coat of paint and the installation of a serving window and modern fixtures. “There were so many days where I thought she was never going to be finished and feeling so discouraged, but Rob kept reassuring me that she would be ready by summer 2019, and he was right. The whole process took over a year, as we found out we were expecting our first baby (due in August!) and we bought our first house, so Tilly was on hold for the winter season.”

Although Carrington finished work on Tilly this summer, she first came up with the idea for Parked Prosecco back in March 2018. A longtime bartender from Greenwood Lake, she knew she wanted to open a bar of her own at some point. She just didn’t want to invest all her savings and jump through hoops to obtain a standing liquor license. When her fiancé suggested she look into a mobile bar instead, she jumped on the concept immediately.

This summer, Parked Prosecco makes its grand debut in the Hudson Valley. Operating as a mobile wine bar, it offers wine on tap from kegs that are 100-percent recyclable.

“I wanted to venture into the wine business because how can you say no to prosecco flowing from a tap?” she asks. “You can’t!”

So how does it work?

First comes the outreach. Anyone interested can send a message to Carrington via the contact form on her site to see if Tilly is available and inquire about costs. Carrington will travel up to 50 miles from her home base in Warwick, with additional charges for any transportation beyond that.

Next comes the customization. Depending on the event, Carrington will apply for a beer, wine, and cider permit to supplement her general liability and liquor liability insurance licenses. Then, working with her clients, she curates her wine menu and plans where Tilly will set up shop. For every event, Parked Prosecco includes on keg of prosecco (that’s about 135 glasses), plus glassware, napkins, paper straws, fruit, and mixers. Carrington also creates a water, iced tea, or lavender lemonade station – complete with mason jar cups – as a nonalcoholic option.

Last but not least is the event itself. On the big day, Carrington parks Tilly and powers up its generator, then opens its grand bar window and gets ready to serve thirsty guests. Parked Prosecco dispenses all its wine through a special cooling system that utilizes recyclable kegs and offers a number of vino varietals, including pinot grigio, chardonnay, pinot noir, and sangria, for guests to pick and choose.

Once visitors secure their glasses, they can recline on the trailer’s fan-back peacock chairs or pose next to the accompanying vintage cruiser bicycle, which comes complete with its very own basket of fresh flowers. Tilly is incredibly photogenic, making it the perfect backdrop for cocktail hour snaps and photoshoots alike.

Summer 2019 is only Carrington’s first season with Parked Prosecco, yet she’s already booked through August.

“Before Tilly was completed, we booked two weddings from brides putting their complete trust in us, so we are excited to show them what Parked Prosecco has to offer,” she says. For future wedding and event inquiries, she plans to film a video to highlight all the trailer has to offer, from the flowing wine on tap and the lemonade vanity stand to the pretty peacock chairs and the Instagrammable floral arrangements over the bar window. Of course, she and Tilly won’t just circulate the local wedding loop. Come September, Parked Prosecco will make its very first appearance at the Warwick Food Truck Festival.

Everything is better with a glass of bubbly, right?
