Why it Works: This stunning enoteca, resplendent with candles; gauzy curtains; and a down-to-earth, sultry vibe, has a semi-private room in the back where groups of 12 or fewer can dine, chat, gossip, and celebrate. It has the feel of being in a friend’s intimate dining room without having to pay for the privilege of a private room. Just call and book the room for midweek or Sunday and simply order from the menu. Bruschetta varieties such as basil pesto, truffled white bean, and Gorgonzola and honey are popular favorites—and great for sharing. Specialties include chicken under a brick, pan-seared salmon, Grandma’s eggplant Siciliano, panini, and artisanal cheeses, all of which go well with the quartinos (a generous glass-and-a-half) of handpicked, elegantly layered, Italian wines.
Fine Print: You can also book the entire restaurant (ask for Events Manager Chris Yates); prices generally start at $39 per person for a three-course meal.
