Studying actuarial science at Bryant University paved the way into insurance for Kelsey Irene DiCarlo, who wanted to be in a STEM field. “There is always something new to learn in the insurance industry,” she says.
And DiCarlo has taken that learning to heart: Not only has she done a slew of continuing education — like becoming an Associate in Risk Management — but last spring she began an online MBA program offered by SUNY Oswego.
That dedication comes through in her job at the White Plains location of Valhalla-based USI, as well. She joined in 2018, and now her responsibilities include everything from generating forecast models to tackling loss analysis to supporting the company’s brokers and clients. “I am most proud of being an integral member of USI’s technical resource team’s analytics branch. Data and analytics is more than just a buzzword; it’s a powerful force in the insurance industry,” she says.
DiCarlo herself is a powerful force, according to her manager Frank Scott, who notes he has hired roughly 100 people in his 38 years in the business before adding, “Kelsey is the best hire I have made.”
DiCarlo is also on the USI Gives Back committee, where she helps organize community service events for employees. “Being involved in [Gives Back] is natural to me, and I value getting out of the office to make a noticeable difference in the community.”
