Armonk
IBM (International Business Machines) is the largest industrial research organization in the world. The company has 19 research facilities spread across 12 laboratories on six continents, with over 300,000 employees. The company was founded in 1911 and moved to Armonk in 1964 onto the land of a former apple orchard. The Westchester headquarters are a central hub for IBM’s operations and play a crucial role in the company’s process. Yorktown is home to IBM’s Thomas J. MasterCard
Purchase
Located in Purchase near Westchester County Airport is the sleek Mastercard International Global Headquarters. The office building was constructed in the early 1980s as part of a movement of large corporations relocating onto suburban estate settings. The building was designed by I. M. Pei of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners and was originally constructed by the Nestle company. It was also occupied by IBM for a few years. PepsiCo was founded in 1965 when the Pepsi-Cola CEO Don Kendall and Frito-Lay CEO Herman Lay decided to join forces. The company dishes out loveable snacks like Ruffles chips, Cheetos, and Gatorade. While the company’s headquarters are in Harrison, it also has a research and development headquarters in Valhalla. White Plains
Sabra Dipping Company was founded in Queens back in 1968. The company, which sells Middle Eastern-style and other food products, including hummus and guacamole, was acquired by PepsiCo in November 2024. It chose to relocate its headquarters to White Plains because of a competitive package offered by the county. Its hummus is made in Chesterfield County, Virginia, and the guacamole is made in Mexico. The headquarters operate out of a 30,000-square-foot leased space, and the company is expected to generate 32 new, local, full-time positions over the next four years.
