Girls' Night Out

Last night, Dorna, our Web Editor, and I headed into the city for Shecky’s Girls Night Out, a beauty and fashion event that takes place in various cities throughout the year. It is open to the public and features entire floors of great fashion, accessories, beauty products, etc. We spotted some great emerging designers, like Sylvie Guieysse, who hails from France and makes amazing pillows by hand, as well as designers who’ve been on the scene for awhile: former Project Runway contestant Emmett McCarthy displayed some of his creations under his EMC2 line. All the items are anywhere from 10 to 75(!) percent off. Dorna got a stunning pair of Dior sunglasses at over 50 percent off, and there are lots of free samples from sponsors like Borba water (which claims to help your skin, which I don’t really understand) and Finlandia Vodka (that one I got).

Although the event is going on until Friday the 27th, tickets are sold out in NYC. (I first checked it this morning and they were still on sale, so it seems that people snapped up the last few.) But, there’s another on July 19 in the Hamptons if you happen to be out there. Otherwise, sit tight until October, when another NYC event is scheduled—I’ll make sure to keep you posted.

For now, here are some highlights—and where you can buy the designs yourself.

Bangles

These great bangles were created by graphic designer Tiffany Bean under her label Lolabean, and cost only $15. Lots of her creations are up on her website, shoplolabean.com, and it looks like they’re hoping to relaunch the site, with even more products, in July. Also, stay tuned for the September issue of the magazine, where we’re featuring other great, cool bangles available in the area.

Pillows

These are the handmade pillows created by Sylvie Guieysse, which range in price from $20 - $65. On her website, you can view the pillows and check out the stores in which they are available. She tells me that they should be up for purchase on her site in August, so check back often.

EMC2 dress

Dorna and I both fell in love with this dress. It retails for $425.

Ring

This ring was created using semi-precious stones and gold-filled wiring. Each can be adjusted to fit your finger, and you can find the designs online at terryrossjewelry.com.

Earrings

I got these earrings, handmade by Katie Thompson, for $20. More designs are at ktcollection.com.

Sunglasses

Dorna’s new sunglasses. She hesitated a bit at first, but, c’mon, could you resist of pair of Dior glasses that fit you this well? Find your own at eyesave.com.
